HELLO, JAPAN?

I am travelling to Japan in February. I have noticed that some folks in Japan happen to check this site regularly. Which leads me to guess that there are heads out there who are interested in dubstep...

I would love to bring my records and play while I'm there. If anybody in Japan reads this and would be interested in organizing something, get in touch. I'm at dquintil@gmail.com.

This is probably a stab in the dark, but crazier things have happened I suppose.

TREAT FOR THE NYC DUBSTEPPAS THIS SATURDAY

Quick announcement: This Saturday, December 3rd, I'll be playing downstairs at Direct Drive alongside the mighty Aaron Spectre. If you don't know Aaron Spectre by now get familiar. His 'Life We Promote' mix is some of the nastiest shit you'll hear all year, mixing up ragga, the Bug, Loefah, Capleton, and death metal like it's nobody's bomboclaat business. Download it here, then get thee to Rothko this Saturday to testify.

Myself, Dave Q, will be playing dubstep all night, and expect b2b business with Aaron Spectre deconstructing the records live on laptop.

BECAUSE I LOVE YOU

Moving Ninja Live a/ Frigid

This is an Australian producer playing all original dubstep material, on a distinctly atmospheric vibe with lush (and not corny) touches of percussion and instrumentation from various world musics. A truly original twist on the dubstep sound. Loving this.

Mark One 3-Turntable DJ Set

Grab it while it's hot. Manchester's grime prodigy Mark One mixes up a straight ahead selection of new and unreleased grime riddims at rapidfire speed on 3 decks. This is the Mark One sound unhinged: relentless stabs of bass, metallic half-step rhythms, and bare dark energy. Octopus business.

Sonar Circle Reinforced Records Mix

Everybody's talking bout the good ol days the good ol days... I found this on Domu's site. Strictly Reinforced material. Classic rudeboy jungle styles. We're talking early 90's forging new directions type shit. This is the tough yet soft, gutter yet intelligent formula that elevated jungle to its mightiest glory in the 90's.

FOR ADDED PLEASURE

First off, I'm thrilled to announce that myself and Joe Nice will be making it a 2-night engagement next weekend at Rothko (I've always wanted to have a 2-night engagement). The night after Dub War (Saturday, November 19), we'll be holding down the first ever Grime/Dubstep Room at Direct Drive, supporting none other than the mighty DJ ZINC headlining. Gotta remember to pack my Bingo records!

And I've also gotta spread the word about a quality event happening this Friday and Saturday (November 11-12) at Southpaw in Park Slope, Brooklyn. None other than the Eski Boy, Roll Deep don Wiley, on the bill longside a diverse roster of underground hip hop and worldwide talent...
